Co-op Members raise money to support Prama

On November 3rd, 2022, the local Dorset charity PramaLife, were presented with a cheque for £2,357.36 from the Co-Op in Hamworthy, Poole.


Local Co-op members selected PramaLife in 2021 as one of their local causes, as part of the Co-Op’s local Community Fund scheme. Over the last year, as Co-Op members spent money on Co-Op products, PramaLife benefited.


The £2,357.36 will go towards funding PramaLife’s Dementia Services. The Memory Lane Groups, support people living with Dementia and Memory Loss. The groups also offer help and support to carers.


Christopher Beale, Prama’s Programmes Director said “PramaLife are very grateful for the support from our local community through the Co-Op Community Fund. Between April 2022 and September 2022, PramaLife provided 323 Memory Lane group sessions for a cumulative total of 3,391 people. This funding will enable us to continue to provide our services to people who really need our help and support.”

PramaLife aim to extend their PramaLife clubs at Old Rope Walk to include subsidised activities to make use of the refurbished kitchen. This includes soup mornings, cookery lessons, baking days and lunches.


Since 2017, PramaLife has developed a network of support groups and community-based activities for older people and carers. These provide a choice of support for people, close to their homes, so they can continue to live independent and fulfilling lives. PramaLife works across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and East Dorset.


PramaLife wish to bring people together to share their culinary skills and enjoy a communal meal. They aim to support older people who are lonely; people experiencing food poverty; the recently bereaved; people with dementia and family carers. The lasting benefit will be a more cohesive community, brought together through food, which will go a long way to reducing social isolation and food poverty.
